PiPs is an exciting new ping pong parlor that also shows emerging contemporary artists.

Located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the street level space has monthly art exhibitions as well as all sorts of table tennis tournaments and events.

PiPs is open daily and is founded by two art lovers and table tennis enthusiasts, Mikey Weiss, owner of Mikey’s Hookup, and filmmaker Bill Mack of Naked Ping Pong fame and former owner and co-founder of SPiN New York. Table Tennis Pro, Rocky Wang, offers coaching and training.

Happy Anniversary! Gossima - The Culture of Ping Pong

Happy Anniversary! Gossima: The Culture of Ping Pong is one year old today.

Originally a parlor game in England in the late 1800s, table tennis has become one the of top five sports in the world; is the national sport of China; and became an Olympic event in 1988. It can be played at any age by anyone from highly trained athletes to the recreational novice. It's one of the best sports for both mind and body. Ping Pong has gained momentum in popularity since the mid 2000s, and we may be on the brink of an international ping pong craze.

In 1891, John Jaques of Jaques and Sons originally marketed the game as Gossima, from which this blog gets its name. Today, Jaques London still sell ping pong gear. A toast to John Jaques!
